Your essay is a beautiful snapshot of what YOUR expert teaching looks like, and you offer a POWERFUL insight--you thought you were being criticized when you were actually being praised. Great writing!!

I urge you to develop the habit of documenting the approval and disapproval that you hear in the hallways of your school, and analyze them to understand what is in the water you are drinking.

We KNOW when, where, and how direct instruction became a "dirty word."

We also know that politicians all over the U.S. are currently writing legislation REQUIRING that reading be taught by direct instruction.

History is the biggest eye roll ever.
